In the beginning, most of my street photography was of windows. And windows were invariably adjacent to doors and embedded in structures. I didn’t choose to photograph strangers whose pictures I would never put on my wall. Windows stand still. Windows allow entree. Windows and doors are metaphors for seeing. For infinite stories.
I am a visual, monolingual writer. I find in signs the titles of stories that have common meaning all over the world. A silent, one-liner common mode of communication. There is no need for speaking or even other people. Just follow the signs.
